Mike Magill for Bourne Division

Development & Infrastructure

Mike will continue to strive for improvements and upgrades to our Highways to accommodate the level of development that is planned for the Bourne Division.

Mike will press for an increase in our bus service and upgrades to the train service to enhance sustainable transport and connectivity and will continue to work with Highways England to implement a cycle route between Chichester and Emsworth on the A259 protecting both cyclists and pedestrians.

Rural Crime & Anti-Social Behaviour

Mike will continue to work with the Police for a greater presence in the area to prevent thefts, damage to property and rural crime.

He is working to introduce a Police Neighbourhood Group to increase interaction between residents and the police so we work together to make this a better place to live and is working with Rural Police teams and the District Council to help drive down fly-tipping.

Environment

Mike will continue his work with Southern Water to help stop the discharge of sewage into Chichester Harbour and work with local organisations to help protect our rare waterways including the Ems River and the surrounding wildlife that have been adversely affected.

Vote for the local experienced choice

By the time of this election I will have been the West Sussex County Councillor for the Bourne Division for 17 months following the by-election in 2019. Working alongside you and your Parish Councils we have been able to achieve a lot for our residents and with your vote, I want to build on this for another 4 years.

Living in The Bourne

The Bourne division remains a fantastic place to live and work but working together we can enhance this even more. Whilst the last year has been extremely difficult, it has been amazing to work with such a strong community that has really pulled together and supported one another.

Support for business

Our businesses need more support than ever and so many of them have been innovative in adapting the services they offer so residents can continue to feel safe and shop with them.

Development pressures

With the level of development in our area we need to be proactive and provide solutions to problems before they occur – such as pressure on highways, education and the local environment that need to be protected.

Talk to me

As your Councillor I want to hear from you with any concerns or ideas you may have for the area. I will assist in any way that I can. If you wish to contact me, please use the contact details provided and I will be more than happy to help.

Mike is striving to further improve our road networks by reducing speed limits where there are vulnerable users including outside of schools and playgrounds.

Mike has helped to preserve our local rural schools that provide a great platform for our children.

Mike has promoted and supported rural communities obtain High Speed Broadband to assist in a more digital way of working.

Mike has been working alongside local organisations to preserve our chalk streams and related wildlife.

Mike has formed a close liaison with Highways England and Parish Councils to demand a high-quality segregated cycle path between Chichester and Emsworth to encourage healthier lifestyles and greener ways to travel.

Mike helped raise over £100k for local charities supporting vulnerable families.

Mike is working closely with residents to help repair and resurface roads and pavements to ensure they are safe to use. Additionally he has obtained funding for an additional Traffic Regulation Order to implement parking restrictions to help protect our coastal villages.
