Tom Tugendhat, MP, MBE
Tom Tugendhat is a true 21st Century Renaissance Man and one of the most interesting of our new MP’s.He read theology as a first degree and Islamics as a post graduate at Cambridge. He has British and French citizenship, speaks Arabic and immediately before becoming an MP served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Intelligence Corps as well as in Iraq and in a key role as military assistant to the Chief of Defence Staff.Tim entered Parliament in 2015 as MP for Tonbridge and Malling and now chairs the influential Foreign Affairs Select Committee which scrutinizes the work of the Foreign Office. Despite strong rhetoric from the Prime Minister about the nerve agent attack in Salisbury, the Committee has recently urged the UK to set out a coherent and pro-active strategy on Russia, led by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and co-ordinated across the whole of Government, that clearly links together the diplomatic, military and financial tools that the UK can use to counter Russian state aggression.
We shall be looking forward to hearing what Tom has to say with great interest.Time: 7pm for 7.30pm. Venue: Milland village hall
